This has been claimed in a recent study by the US-based Kedars-Sinai Medical Center.  According to researchers, vitamin-D deficiency hinders metabolic activity. This causes the food to be digested slowly and the sugar gradually starts accumulating as fat. Along with causing diabetes, it also affects the blood flow in the arteries by making them narrow, which increases the risk of a person getting a heart attack. Researcher Stephen Pandol reported that sunshine is the largest natural source of vitamin-D. In such a situation, the person must bake light sun for 10 to 15 minutes daily.
